I designed this typeface as a revival of Auriol, a French
Art Nouveau typeface from the 1890s. I wanted to create a modern display face that would have the vegetal feeling of art nouveau but with a digital crispness that leaves it open to playful usage in contemporary media.
Exhibition
Classmates and I designed materials and mounted an exhibition of our work. I played with color and scale, printing single letterforms large to showcase some of my favorite shapes and details. I enjoyed the opportunity to explore, creating an excess of materials then finding ways to group and display my favorites.
